Loosdrecht is a town in the municipality of “Wijdemeren” with a population of about 8,600 inhabitants. Loosdrecht consists of two small villages: Nieuw-Loosdrecht and Oud-Loosdrecht.


The “Loosdrechtse Plassen” boasts many yacht harbors, sailing schools and other companies related to water sport. There are designated areas for swimmers and surfers, where motorboats are not allowed. Other parts of the lakes are ideal for sailing. During severe winters, the lakes attract ice skaters from all over the country.
