Southampton is the first Town in the Hamptons and is one of five Towns which comprise the larger Suffolk County of New York State. East Hampton is the other Town which constitutes the Hamptons.

The seaside region is notably associated with celebrity sightings. Many of the rich and famous spend their summers on spacious estates nestled along the Atlantic Ocean, often hidden behind tall hedgerows.

The legendary Hamptons, a cluster of wealthy enclaves on Long Island's South Fork, remains a celebrity summer playground, with splashy restaurants and nightclubs galore. But lovely beaches, fishing and kayaking attract off-the-A-list visitors, as well.
